Well, my final total for miles walked in 2008 is 604 miles. 326 miles were city miles and 278 miles were in the mountains. City miles were mostly at work and were a 4 mile loop with no significant elevation. A few walks were also from the house and again no significant elevation. Mountain walks were hiking trails along the I-90 corridor from North Bend to just past Snoqualmie Summit. These hikes range in length from 3 to 12 miles and from 450 to 2600 feet in elevation gain. I am still building endurance in order to reach the summit of some of the peaks around the area. As you can see from the slide shows to the left, some of the views are quite spectacular. It is well worth hiking the trails during the different seasons. However, because of the avalanche danger, it is best to stay away from some of the trails. The trails that are accessible will probably require snowshoes. If you haven't tried snowshoeing, it is well worth the effort to experience the mountains in the winter time.
I will continue to update this blog and the slideshows so you can share some of the enjoyment I get from visiting the back country. Keep checking back for updates.
Bob
